Q: WHERE IS SIDING SPRING? 

Siding Spring Observatory is located on Mount Woorut (at a height of 1165m) approximately 25 kilometres west of the town of Coonabarabran, NSW, or 14 kms east of Warrumbungle National Park on Observatory Road. It takes about 5.5 hours to get there from Sydney, or under two hours from Dubbo, Tamworth or Narrabri. 

Q : CAN CARAVANS GO UP THE MOUNTAIN ROAD?

NO - Please note that no caravans are allowed on the mountain road and can be stowed at the bottom of Siding Spring Range in the designated area. Caravans are not permitted on the mountain and are requested to use the car park at the bottom. 

Q: ARE BUSES AND MOTOR HOMES OK?

YES - Motorhomes and buses can access the site with caution. Buses over 12m need permission to participate on the Seeing Siding Spring tour - for coach companies.
