Join us on August 10th for a magical evening of stargazing at the Avalon Community Centre during National Science Week! From 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM, immerse yourself in the wonders of the night sky with a variety of family-friendly activities designed to educate and inspire.

Planetarium Shows: Step inside our inflatable planetarium and embark on a journey through the cosmos. Experience the beauty of the stars, planets, and galaxies in a stunning, immersive environment.
Expert Talks: Hear from astronomers and science educators as they share their knowledge about the heavens above. Learn about the latest discoveries in space, the mysteries of our universe, and how to stargaze from your own backyard.
First Nations Astronomy: Gain unique insights into the rich astronomical traditions of Australia's First Nations peoples. Discover how the night sky has been interpreted and used for navigation, storytelling, and cultural practices for millennia.
Special Guest Speakers - Don’t miss the opportunity to hear from renowned astronomer Fred Watson as he shares his expertise and passion for the night sky. Other speakers include Dr Angel Lopez-Sanchez, Marnie Ogg, Dr Bob Fuller.
Telescope Viewing: Weather permitting, we will have telescopes set up for guided stargazing sessions. Get a close-up look at celestial objects and learn how to navigate the night sky.
