In 1974 Siding Spring Observatory, perched on top of Mount Worrut in the Warrumbungle Ranges, became Australia's National Optical Telescope Facility. In the decades that have passed the observatory, which is home to more than 27 telescopes, has punched way above its weight leaders on the path for scientific exploration, astronomical discoveries and technology advancements.
